The 1920s were a heyday of German art, culture and science. - What is your contribution to making the coming decade the heyday of this century? - We are still pondering, but we also want to give others a chance.

However, today is not just the start of the next decade, but "Peace in this house". - This was the motto with which Pope Francis began a year ago today. However, his message for the World Day of Peace on January 1, 2019 still seems to have room for improvement, at least when I look at today's New Year's greetings from Tehran or Pyongyang. - Nevertheless, I think the motto is a success, and I will declare "Peace in this house" our Bulli motto of the year. - I hope Torgit sticks to it.

Wasn't the first of January also the victory of the revolution? - Isn't that where the photo with Castro and the white doves was taken? Also a symbol of peace or just a revolutionary with a bunch of flying rats? We didn't find any graffiti of Fidel in Olhão, but we did find one of Che. And after all, he was part of the party.

"I was always an admirer of Christ, because he was the first communist.

He multiplied loaves and fishes, and we want to do the same." - Fidel Castro

There was no revolution here overnight, but it was stormier than expected. - Only small gusts were forecast.

When we get out of the van in the morning, it is still bitterly cold. But as soon as the sun rises over the hills, it immediately feels warmer. I decide to explore the lake instead of worrying about religion and politics.

Waves lapping against the shore. Almost like the sea, but less salty. But cold, very, very cold. It's a short dip in the water. Fortunately, the sun warms me up again quickly. I sit on the shore for a while and send a few messages to friends and family and talk to my mom on the phone.

When I arrive at the van in my surf poncho, a Guardia Civil off-road vehicle is driving towards us - Are we allowed to stand here? - Am I allowed to swim here? - Certainly not both. That's why I say a nice and friendly hello first. - The gentlemen greet me back and drive on.

Torgit and I are taking it easy today. But first we have to clean the windows. - Then we enjoy our coffee with a view of the lake and later our fruit muesli. It's time to record a few thoughts here in the blog.

"Money does not make you happy

 It just calms the nerves..."

Rio Reiser

"And you have to own it

To throw it out the window..."

Torgit: While we enjoy the first rays of sunshine and occasionally gaze out at the water, I read 'A sea of troubles' by Donna Leon - yes, a Donna Leon crime novel in English. The challenge on our trip is that you're constantly being torn out of your comfort zone: once you've got used to a country or a language, you're in the next country and have to start thinking and dreaming in the right language straight away.

Although a lot of Spanish is also spoken, in Europe, at least it feels like English is the best way to get by. - So that it doesn't get rusty, I like to read it to stay in the loop. Long story short: I stumble across 'goose' in this book, which fits in with Christmas past, at least in my old world. And somehow, the devil knows why, I have to think of my 'Golden Goose' shoes. Was I actually aware of what goose actually means when I bought them?

The first time I saw these shoes was at Daniels at Neumarkt and I wasn't prepared to spend that much money on them. The next time I saw these shoes was on my beautician's feet and I was surprised. Later I found out that her boyfriend is a well-known Cologne footballer. - Yes then. A year later in Milan, I showed Marc the shoes in the flagship store there and he was at the checkout faster than I could say no. Looking back, these shoes made me happy and I really wore them a lot.

Today I still think: how much money we have spent on stuff. And how long we could travel for. I convert it into days of freedom. Expensive things were normal in our circle of friends and business associates. Shoes, bags or scarves for the girls. Often for four-figure sums. If I didn't want to pay for it, I was told: your husband earns enough.

What exactly does enough mean? And what exactly does earning well have to do with spending a lot of money? Doesn't your husband buy you that? - Why should he? - Because your husband keeps you quiet with presents? Because you are dissatisfied? Because he works too much? Or because he has a guilty conscience about cheating? - The fact is that I've always earned my own money and can buy almost anything I want. - Otherwise I could have saved on it.

And yes, if I had asked Marc, he would have bought me everything. But I didn't ask. - On the contrary, I often kept quiet, because otherwise I was given presents far too quickly.

The question is instead, what do I want - do I want to belong? - To the Golden Goose Connection? - Do I compare myself with the other girls? - Maybe I should rather compare myself with myself. - How I was. - Yesterday. Or 5 years ago. - That makes more sense. I like that. And makes me happy, here and now. Even without Golden Goose. Because, strangely enough, I haven't missed them.

"In front of the people who collect money

You can only issue a warning

Because not even velvet and silk

Can camouflage their horse's feet

And if I hit the jackpot

I'm sure I'll spend it all

For platinum, gold and shares

And a super big house"

Marc has always enjoyed working a lot. - But money was never his motivation. Maybe that's why he always liked Rio's song so much.

In the afternoon, we set off again to explore a new location for the night. The route takes us through the Parque Natural de Los Alcornocales. The road is bumpy and takes us through small forests and fields with bulls. There is supposed to be a kind of tropical jungle here. But we would be satisfied with a sheltered spot for the time being. We find one at the next lake, the Embalse del Celemín. - Now it's time to cook.

"...And as we all know, you can do anything

Except buy love for it

But the best way of all

Is it easy to drink away"

My opinion!"

 No, Rio's opinion
