After crossing the border into Germany last night without any problems, we look for a place to spend the night. We pass through several small villages. - Near Kandern, in the Markgräflerland, we find a quiet spot at the Steli hiking parking lot - 47°44'32.9″N 7°37'50.2″E. This region in the far south-west of Baden-Württemberg, and therefore Germany, borders France to the west and Switzerland to the south.
In the middle of the night, we hear the sound of vehicles several times. - When we wake up in the morning, the forest clearing is no longer ours alone. A total of four campers are stranded here. Two of them from the Hanover region. They had also broken off their tour and had driven here yesterday from the south of France. As they avoided the toll roads, their journey was even more difficult. The border crossing was also effortless for them. - But the measures in the individual federal states show that it is only getting worse.
besonnen und entschlossen unser Leben zu endschleunigen“ – Armin Laschet Minister President of the State of NRW
Torgit and I first inform friends and family about our return home. - What surprises me is that acquaintances still want to meet up with us. - Thanks but no thanks. - Let's finish off together. But separately first, please. - We've just come off a crowded ferry, of course we think we're healthy. But faith and hope belong in church.
Who is supposed to know that? Or do you always have the current version of the Forest Act, in this case for Baden-Württemberg (Landeswaldgesetz - LWaldG) to hand? - No, then I hope you have a net in the forest. - I also have another issue to deal with, the German citizen. How they look at me just because I'm walking through the forest in flip flops. Or have I overlooked a paragraph that regulates the wearing of flip flops in the forest? - I look forward to your feedback.
But apart from that, everything here is in order. Whereas on Ibiza the roads didn't even have a name, here every forest path is marked and every tree is numbered. - I really missed it.
Barely back in Germany and already complaining again? - So as not to leave the wrong impression, I would like to point out that many things are particularly good here in Germany. And that doesn't just mean the selection at the sausage, bread and cheese counter. I have often described how much I missed the Rhenish brown bread.
We think we know that some campers and surfers in Spain are feeling pretty queasy right now. - Surfers were chased off the beach today. - Fines of €2,000 are threatened for non-compliance.
But for our friends on Tenerife, the sun is just setting on their paradise. The campers and vans on the road were stopped. They were told to leave the vehicles and go to permanent accommodation, they were not allowed to drive on the road. - After several indications that they were living in their cars, the Guardia Civil herded them more than roughly into a parking lot. They were not allowed to leave their vehicles. The showers and toilets at the neighboring campsite were closed. Then the Policía Local arrived. - The gentlemen from the local police authorities were friendlier, but there was no solution for toilets or anything. - The supermarket opposite can only be entered individually and with gloves. - As the shelves are almost empty, there is hardly anything to touch. - From tomorrow, the military are supposed to be monitoring compliance with the measures. - We have done everything right. - After the shock, we open a bag of our Ibiza coffee. We sit in the van with the feeling that we have done everything right. Thank you Germany, also for your prudence.
