... "Listen baby, ain't no mountain high
Ain't no valley low, ain't no river wide enough baby..." MArvin Gaye - Tammi Terrel

When we wake up this morning, we see the sun rising over the Serra de Monchique. Although the highest mountain, Fóia, is only just under 900 meters high, the view is still beautiful. We look out over a large wooded area. To our right is a pine forest. From above, the pine trees always look as if they are spotted and are a rare, lush green. To our left is the Odiáxere dam. This is where the river of the same name is dammed, at the mouth of which we have been bivouacking for the last few days.

Although it is still very fresh outside, it doesn't feel cold. The sun has an immediate effect. It makes you want to take a shower outside.

Who has such a beautiful bathroom?

Although the temperature feels pleasant, a glance at the weather app shows that it's only 14 degrees. But that's at least four degrees warmer than yesterday. - The coffee feels good after all. - I hum a little to myself.

Mountains, rivers and then suddenly there's a melody, ain't no mountain high. I quickly search for the song on Sportify. - Very cool,

"...If you need me call me no matter where you are - No matter how far don't worry baby - Just call my name I'll be there in a hurry

You don't have to worry - 'Cause baby there ain't no mountain high enough..."

Too emotional? - Then just rational: - Tag No. 77 - Smallest natural number with a multiplicative persistence of 4.

It rained heavily during the night today. - At first glance, we find it difficult when the Portuguese tell us once again that it is raining too rarely this year and the temperatures are too low. - We immediately believe the latter. But as we stand at the dam wall of the Odiáxere, it's hard to miss. The dam has very little water. - If you take a closer look, you realize that nature is thirsty for water. In addition to the pine forests, which still look very green, there are many areas that look dried up. From time to time we even see burnt down areas of forest. On the one hand, it's great when it doesn't rain, but on the other hand...

As I had to have my broken glasses repaired in Lagos, we had to return at some point. As there is only one way up here, there is only one way down. So we have to go back the same way. - If only it hadn't been for the rain. - One man's joy is another man's sorrow. The hollows on the "road" have not only filled up with rain, but are also full of mud.

But this is the opportunity. Why should only we shower? So Hector also gets his shower today. - Torgit says later that Marc was playing and she's not entirely wrong. I really enjoy riding through the flooded paths. - It's like children, or as Torgit puts it, like a little boy. And yes, even as a child it made me happy to jump into the deepest puddles. But there was no Hector back then.

We want to meet up with Gabi and Rainer again in the evening. We have arranged to meet for a beer. The two of them have discovered a pub in Espiche, a small town north-west of Lagos. The Arco-Iris bar looks rather inconspicuous from the outside. But perhaps they should have taken a closer look at the entrance sign. It's small, but legible, between darts, pool, music, snacks, B-B-Q's, TV sports and karaoke. That says it all, doesn't it? Maybe we should have just translated the name of the bar: Arco-Iris-Regenbogen - The name seems to say it all, as you enter, you find yourself in another world. The entire ceiling of the pub is decorated all over with soccer fan scarves. Signed jerseys hang on the walls. It feels like the entire Champions League is here. In addition to various clubs from Portugal, Spain, France, Italy and the Netherlands, there are mainly scarves from English clubs. But German clubs are not neglected either. 1. FC Köln has found its regular place here, that remains undisputed despite 17th place in the Bundesliga. Despite 16th place in the third division, there is a place for FCK. - It looks pretty complete, but something is missing. Could a Bavarian take pity on us? And I don't mean BAYER Leverkusen, they are there. But FC Bayern Munich is not represented. Or have they been left behind? Nobody knows. All in all, a real fan pub - if it weren't for the Portuguese owner behind the bar. - I would have expected a bull-necked Brit, but this one is more reminiscent of a hippie. At least now it's clear who's making the rainbow here.

Insight of the day: You don't need scoops and shapes to play in the mud.
