Torgit: We are woken up again at night by dogs barking, which is not uncommon here in the Algarve and in Portugal in general. But this time I hear a shrill squealing in between, which gives me goose bumps. That doesn't sound good. In the morning, there's a report that the wild dogs have been chasing a pig in the neighbor's yard.

As yesterday's attempt to repair the back seat was unfortunately unsuccessful, we ask Rafael, the owner of Sky's Pension, to make an appointment for us at the nearest VW workshop in Faro. Unfortunately, the next possible appointment is not until the 18th, so we have to live with our permanent bed for at least another 9 days. And it is uncertain whether VW will be able to help us at all. After our last visit to the workshop in Lisbon, we're not holding out too much hope. - If you like, you can read about our experience here.

As there is nothing else we can do, we say goodbye and head back to "our" beach, Praia do Almargem, or Praia de Loulé to be precise. On our old pitch, at the very end, is Benjamin, whom we have already gotten to know and appreciate. As the site is relatively empty today, we simply stand in the middle under the pine trees, next to a cool T3 with the inscription Tattoo Surf Nomad. People with a car like that suit us. We prefer to keep our distance from the other car with a garden gnome. Especially as the gnome is positioned in such a way that it reminds us of "reserve a sun lounger with a towel". And that's not our thing at all. It can't be a coincidence that the photo of the garden gnome is as dark as his soul, or was it the sun? 😉

Quickly take out the hammock and chairs, make breakfast (or rather late breakfast) and relax on the beach again.

Thus fortified, we return to our blog. We are delighted that more and more people are joining us on our journey and reading our blog. Even google now finds us. When I think about how many travel blogs there are, it makes me very, very happy and we are frankly a little proud that our over 50s blog is keeping up so well with the young ones. So to all Best Agers, Generation Gold, Generation 50plus, Silver Agers, Golden Agers, Third Agers, Senior Citizens, "over 50s" or whatever you're all called, you're very welcome. There is only one condition: you should not have forgotten the child in you. So just get it out and bring it to the beach.

We get to know so many interesting people here and it's fun to exchange ideas. In the evening, we chat with Benjamin over a glass of wine. From the Algarve perspective, he's almost from my old home, from Linz on the Rhine 😉 Anyone who has known me for a while knows that I used to wait tables at the Rolandsbogen, where I got to know and appreciate German wines and dry Riesling in particular. So I'm all the more pleased to meet people who share this passion. Like Benjamin, who has turned his passion into a profession and now runs a business selling Middle Rhine and Ahr wines. It's fun talking shop with him about wines, regional and fair, home, writing a blog, digital nomads, working from home and, of course, our topic of happiness. Benjamin is lucky enough to be able to take time out from time to time, he can manage his online store from anywhere and his wife looks after his offline business at home. So happiness also means the freedom to live the way you want. If your environment plays along and supports you, all the better.
