Our rhythm has changed considerably in the meantime. I used to often work until 9 or 10 pm. - After that, we had dinner and then watched a movie. - I was rarely in bed before 1:00 am. Even on days when I did exercise in the morning, it was rarely before or at sunrise. It's completely different here. When the sun goes down, our evening also comes to an end. We are usually in bed an hour later. (Torgit's note: the sun sets later here in Portugal than in Germany)<\/p>\n<p>As it starts to rain, we set off today after the first coffee. Otherwise we are too worried about Hector getting stuck. We become more and more aware that with Spector, Hector's successor, we will also need four-wheel drive.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Hohle_von_Benagil\"><\/span>Benagil cave<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>We drive a little further parallel to the cliff and arrive at the Benagil cave. The Benagil Cave in the Algarve is one of the most popular sights in the south of Portugal. It is located directly on the sandy beach of the same name, Praia de Benagil. From here, it is only a short walk to this spectacular cave. We lie on our stomachs and gaze into the deep darkness. The surf rages below us. An amazing feeling.\u00a0<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Die_Reisende\"><\/span>The traveler<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>A little way up the cliff, a young girl is sitting under a cliff overhang. She seems so relaxed that I have to disturb her. I speak to her in English and ask if she would like a picture of herself. She holds her GoPro out to me with a laugh. Instead of a picture, I get a video. It turns out that she is also a traveler.<\/p>\n<p>Anna kommt vom Dorf. Wisst ihr wie Landm\u00e4dchen ihre Heimat beschreiben? &#8211; &#8222;Kennt ihr Stuttgart? Kennt ihr vielleicht auch T\u00fcbingen? Vielleicht kenn ihr dann ja auch noch Balingen? Ich komme von einem kleinen Dorf in der N\u00e4he von Balingen, dass kennt sowieso keiner.&#8220; &#8211; Anna ist genauso sympathisch wie ihre Beschreibung. Wir w\u00fcnschen ihr viel Zufriedenheit auf ihrer Tour. &#8211; Torgit macht noch ein Suchbild von mir. &#8211; Sp\u00e4ter wandern wir durch den Regen zur\u00fcck zu Hector. This is where we will park Hector for the next few days. On the way to the parking space, we see a very cool Bimobile and a Defender at a traffic circle. My interest is piqued. Only when we overtake do I realize that I hadn't paid any attention to the fact that I was driving 180 degrees in the wrong direction. So I turn around and go back. - Why is Torgit laughing at me?<\/p>\n<p>On site, we meet an exciting community. - Rafael Paulo, the owner, feels German, even though he has Portuguese roots. But realizing his dream of building Tiny Houses in the local society repeatedly comes up against limits. - As I thought, the path to ownership here is much more challenging than some tourists think. - The pitch is decidedly rustic, but this is overshadowed by the open nature of the owners. - We feel at home.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Der_NordVan\"><\/span>The NordVan<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>As we park our Hector, we stand next to Tanni with a T6 from NordVan, a conversion company from Neum\u00fcnster.  The concept based on the long wheelbase seems successful, but once again confirms our choice of a SpaceCamper. Tanni has taken a year out and describes it on her blog:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/tanniontour.de\/\" target=\"_top\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">https:\/\/tanniontour.de\/<\/a>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"RTL_Spendenmarathon\"><\/span>RTL telethon<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Hier habe ich endlich wieder die M\u00f6glichkeit gut online zu gehen. Spannend finde ich, dass das mobile Telefonnetz und das Datennetz oft gegens\u00e4tzlich funktionieren. &#8211; Pl\u00f6tzlich erinnert mich facebook an den RTL Spendenmarathon von vor drei Jahren. Nachdem ich in den letzten Jahren gemeinsam mit &#8222;meinem&#8220; Team auf Spinningrad, Kettcar und Tretroller mitgefahren bin, freue ich mich diesmal entspannt von der Ferne zuzusehen. Das Team OKAL hat sich, auch ohne mich, vorbildlich geschlagen. At least German is spoken. Towards evening it becomes more cosmopolitan. The circle expands. Do you know this one? A Frenchman, an Englishman and three Germans sitting around a campfire? Then there are Poles, Swedes, Swiss... - Where's the joke? Wait for the end.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Udo_vom_Yukon\"><\/span>Udo from the Yukon<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>When I get to the fireplace a few minutes later, Torgit is already deep in conversation with Udo, a Berliner. - Berlin is actually the wrong word. But at least Udo ran a company with a business partner in Berlin for many years. What started out as a small business ended up being a company with 56 employees. - But one day, at the young age of almost 50, Udo suddenly no longer wanted the responsibility. From one day to the next, he sold his half share in the company to his partner for one euro on the condition that he would be free on the same day. - Udo opted for a life of freedom. He spent 15 years in Canada, in Yukon to be precise.<\/p>\n<p>The Klondike gold rush, which drove many adventurers to this area back then, is a long, long time ago. Today, an area almost twice the size of Germany is home to only 38,000 inhabitants, three quarters of whom live in the city of Whitehorse alone. So there is plenty of peace and quiet. According to his descriptions, Udo lived as you would imagine: Building a log cabin, canoe trips on the Yukon River, criss-crossing America's north in a pick-up truck. On the subject of bears, he just laughs - mosquitoes would be worse. - Udo is now 73 years young. But he is far from fed up with traveling and adventure. At least he hopes so, because a detached retina could get in his way. Otherwise, he makes a more than smart impression. He is still on tour with Tiny, his dog. His last route went along the Baltic Sea, via Poland, Estonia, Lithuania, up to Scandinavia, Sweden, Finland, Lofoten and then back via Norway. The two of them still have a lot of plans and you would think they have the confidence to do it.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Volkerverstandigung\"><\/span>International understanding<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Doch wie war das noch mit dem Witz? &#8211; Bevor das Feuer nieder gebrannt ist, holt der Schweizer einige Instrumente, unter anderem ein Didgeridoo, eine Rassel, eine Fl\u00f6te aus seinem Van. &#8211; Schnell findet sich auch noch eine Gitarre. Der Reihe nach werden Songs vorgetragen. Der Franzose mit La Boh\u00e8me von Charles Aznavour, die Schweden mit Abba. Dann folgen St\u00fccke, die ich nicht kenne. Die Deutschen sind mal wieder sehr zur\u00fcckhaltend. &#8211; Ich \u00fcbernehme dann die Verantwortung mit einem Klassiker: Eisgek\u00fchlter Bommerlunder von den Toten Hosen. &#8211; Der Franzose ist begeistert, der Rest wei\u00df nichts damit anzufangen. &#8211; Ich geh dann mal schlafen. \ud83d\ude09<\/p>\n<p>Still wondering where the joke was? - You should have heard me sing, that was funny, sure it was.<\/p>\n<p>Tomorrow we are heading for Cologne. Inzwischen hat sich unser Rhythmus deutlich ge\u00e4ndert. Fr\u00fcher habe ich oft bis 21:00 oder 22:00 Uhr gearbeitet. - Danach wurde zu Abend gegessen, und dann noch ein Film geschaut. - Selten war ich vor 1:00 Uhr im Bett. Selbst an Tagen, an denen ich mich morgens mal sportlich\u00a0bet\u00e4tigt\u00a0habe,\u00a0war dies\u00a0selten\u00a0vor oder beim Sonnenaufgang. Hier ist es ganz anders. Wenn die Sonne untergegangen ist, geht auch\u00a0unser Abend zu Ende.\u00a0In der Regel sind wir eine Stunde sp\u00e4ter in der Koje. (Anm. von Torgit: Hier in Portugal geht die Sonne sp\u00e4ter unter als in Deutschland)<\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><p>Da es zu regnen anf\u00e4ngt, starten wir heute auch nach dem ersten Kaffee durch. Die Sorge ansonsten Hector fest zu fahren, ist zu gro\u00df. Es\u00a0wird uns immer bewusster mit Spector, so wird Hector's Nachfolge hei\u00dfen, muss auch Allrad her.<\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><p>Wir fahren ein St\u00fcckchen weiter parallel zum Kliff und kommen zu den H\u00f6hle von Benagil.\u00a0Von dort ist es nur ein kleiner Fu\u00dfmarsch bis zu einer spektakul\u00e4ren Grotte. Wir liegen auf dem Bauch und blicken ins tiefe Dunkel. Unter uns tobt die Brandung. Ein Wahnsinnsgef\u00fchl.<\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><p>Ein St\u00fcckchen oberhalb am Kliff sitzt ein junges M\u00e4dchen unter einem Klippen\u00fcberhang. Sie wirkt so entspannt, da muss ich sie st\u00f6ren. Ich spreche sie auf Englisch an und frage, ob sie ein Bild von sich m\u00f6chte. Sie h\u00e4lt mir\u00a0lachend\u00a0ihre GoPro entgegen.\u00a0Statt Bild gibt es\u00a0halt ein Video. Es stellt sich heraus, dass sie ebenfalls eine Reisende ist. Anna kommt vom Dorf. Wisst ihr wie Landm\u00e4dchen ihre Heimat beschreiben? - \"Kennt ihr Stuttgart? Kennt ihr vielleicht auch T\u00fcbingen? Vielleicht\u00a0kenn ihr dann ja auch noch Balingen? Ich komme von einem kleinen Dorf in der N\u00e4he von Balingen, dass kennt sowieso keiner.\" - Anna ist genauso sympathisch wie ihre Beschreibung. Wir w\u00fcnschen ihr viel Zufriedenheit auf ihrer Tour. - Torgit macht noch ein Suchbild von mir. - Sp\u00e4ter\u00a0wandern wir durch den Regen zur\u00fcck zu Hector. Hier werden wir Hector in den n\u00e4chsten Tagen parken.\u00a0Auf dem Weg zum Stellplatz sehen wir an einem Kreisverkehr ein sehr geiles Bimobil und einen Defender. Mein Interesse ist geweckt. Erst beim \u00dcberholen merke ich, dass ich \u00fcberhaupt nicht darauf geachtet habe, dass ich 180 Grad in die falsche Richtung gefahren bin. Also Kehrtwende und zur\u00fcck. - Warum lacht Torgit \u00fcber mich?<\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><p>Vor Ort treffen wir auf eine spannende Gemeinschaft. - Rafael Paulo, der Besitzer f\u00fchlt sich als Deutscher, obwohl er portugiesische Wurzeln hat. Doch in der hiesigen Gesellschaft seinen Traum zur Realisierung von Tiny H\u00e4usern umzusetzen, st\u00f6\u00dft immer wieder an Grenzen. - Wie von mir gedacht, ist der Weg zum Eigentum hier deutlich herausfordernder, als es sich mancher Tourist denkt. - Der Stellplatz ist ausgesprochen rustikal, was aber durch die offene Art der Besitzer in den Hintergrund ger\u00e4t. - Wir f\u00fchlen uns wohl.<\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><p>Als wir unseren Hector einparken, stellen wir uns neben Tanni mit einem T6 von\u00a0NordVan, einem Ausbauer aus Neum\u00fcnster.\u00a0\u00a0Das Konzept auf Basis des langen Radstandes scheint gelungen, best\u00e4tigt uns jedoch noch einmal in unserer Wahl f\u00fcr einen SpaceCamper. Tanni hat sich f\u00fcr ein Jahr eine Auszeit genommen und beschreibt diese auf ihrem Blog:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/tanniontour.de\/\" target=\"_top\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">https:\/\/tanniontour.de\/<\/a><\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><p>Hier habe ich endlich wieder die M\u00f6glichkeit gut online zu gehen. Spannend finde ich, dass das mobile Telefonnetz und das Datennetz oft gegens\u00e4tzlich funktionieren. - Pl\u00f6tzlich erinnert mich facebook an den RTL Spendenmarathon von vor drei Jahren. Nachdem ich in den letzten Jahren gemeinsam mit \"meinem\" Team auf Spinningrad, Kettcar und Tretroller mitgefahren bin, freue ich mich diesmal entspannt von der Ferne zuzusehen. Das Team OKAL hat sich, auch ohne mich, vorbildlich geschlagen. Zumindest\u00a0wird deutsch gesprochen. Gegen Abend wird es weltoffener. Der Kreis erweitert sich. Kennt ihr den? Ein Franzose, ein Engl\u00e4nder und drei Deutsche sitzen an einem Lagerfeuer? Kommen Polen, Schweden, Schweizer dazu... - Wo der Witz ist? Wartet auf das Ende.<\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><p>Als ich ein paar Minuten sp\u00e4ter zur Feuerstelle komme, ist Torgit bereits in ein Gespr\u00e4ch mit Udo, einem Berliner vertieft. - Wobei Berliner eigentlich das falsche Wort ist. Doch zumindest hat Udo \u00fcber\u00a0viele Jahre in Berlin, mit einem Gesch\u00e4ftspartner, ein Unternehmen geleitet. Was zuerst als kleine Bude begann, war am Ende ein Unternehmen mit 56 Mitarbeitern. - Doch eines Tages, im jungen Alter von knapp 50, hatte Udo pl\u00f6tzlich keine Lust mehr auf die Verantwortung. Er\u00a0verkaufte seinen h\u00e4lftigen Anteil am Unternehmen, von einem auf den anderen Tag, f\u00fcr einen Euro mit der Bedingung, dass er am selben Tag frei w\u00e4re, an seinen Kompagnon.\u00a0- Udo hat sich f\u00fcr ein Leben in Freiheit entschieden. 15 Jahre verbrachte er in Kanada, genauer gesagt in Yukon. Der Klondike-Goldrausch, der damals viele Abenteurer in dieses Gebiet getrieben hat, ist lange, lange her. Heute leben auf einem Gebiet, was fast doppelt so gro\u00df wie Deutschland ist, nur 38.000 Einwohner, davon allein drei Viertel in der Stadt Whitehorse. Also Ruhe satt.\u00a0Udo lebte laut seinen Beschreibungen so, wie man sich das vorstellt: Blockh\u00fctte bauen, Kanutouren auf dem Yukon River, mit dem Pick-Up kreuz und quer, nicht nur durch den Norden Amerikas. Zum Thema B\u00e4ren lacht er nur, M\u00fccken w\u00e4ren schlimmer. - Inzwischen ist Udo 73 Jahre jung. Doch von Reisen und Abenteuer, hat er noch lange nicht die Nase voll. Das hofft er zumindest, denn\u00a0eine Netzhaut Abl\u00f6sung, k\u00f6nnte ihm in den Weg kommen. Ansonsten macht er einen mehr als pfiffigen Eindruck. Er ist immer noch mit Tiny, seinem Hund auf Tour. Seine letzte Route ging entlang der Ostsee, \u00fcber Polen, Estland, Litauen, hoch nach Skandinavien, Schweden, Finnland, Lofoten und dann zur\u00fcck \u00fcber Norwegen. Die beiden haben noch viel vor und man mag es ihnen zutrauen.<\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><p>Doch wie war das noch mit dem Witz? - Bevor das\u00a0Feuer nieder gebrannt ist, holt der Schweizer einige Instrumente, unter anderem ein Didgeridoo, eine Rassel, eine Fl\u00f6te aus seinem Van. - Schnell findet sich auch noch eine Gitarre. Der Reihe nach werden Songs vorgetragen. Der Franzose mit La Boh\u00e8me von Charles Aznavour, die Schweden mit Abba. Dann folgen St\u00fccke, die ich nicht kenne. Die Deutschen sind mal wieder sehr zur\u00fcckhaltend. - Ich \u00fcbernehme\u00a0dann die Verantwortung mit einem Klassiker: Eisgek\u00fchlter Bommerlunder von den Toten Hosen. - Der Franzose ist begeistert, der Rest wei\u00df nichts damit anzufangen. - Ich geh dann mal schlafen. ;-)<\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><p>Ihr fragt euch noch immer wo der Witz war? - Ihr h\u00e4ttet mich singen h\u00f6ren sollen, das war witzig, sicher das.<\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><p>Morgen geht es Richtung K\u00f6ln.
